The New Adventures of Jasper Woodbury--the Great Circle Race

In "The Great Circle Race," Jasper's newspaper sponsors a contest where racers can start anywhere outside a large circle with a radius of 5 miles. Only nonmotorized modes of transportation are allowed. Students need to read a topograp hic map, interpret data about speeds of racers, and use compass clues to predict who will win the race. Building on skills introduced in "The Right Angle," this episode is designed for Grade 6 and up.
