A young family with adopted adolescent twins, Anne and Andrew, are on their way to Sedona to visit with their grandfather. Andrew is worried that Grandpa will not love him and Anne in the same way, now that their Mama is expecting a new baby. While visiting with grandpa, Andrew befriends the neighborhood cat named Alien. When Andrew asks why he is called Alien, grandpa responds with, "Because he is one." Grandpa thinks that, because once a year on the same day, Alien, the cat, disappears into the red rock mountains. The sky fills with storm clouds, and there are flashes of pale green light. Andrew is determined to find out just what happens on that fateful night. So he follows the cat and witnesses a cosmic event beyond his wildest dreams. On his way home, he is worried that his family will be upset that he left without warning. But Alien reassures him with a purr and a glance at a shooting star, to help guide Andrew home. "Alien on the Stoop" is an enchanting story that shows, even if you come from different worlds, the right family can make you feel loved and accepted.
