Adaptive Antenna Components Second Field Trial

This report summarizes the central design issues which arose during the design of an integrated transmit beamformer of the phase two testbed components, and looks at how these issues are of relevance to the design of future systems.

The key component issues are: antenna element and antenna array design; transmitter and upconverter design and calibration; beamformer design; and adaptive algorithm implementation.

Each of these areas is considered in detail. In each case, the important design decisions made during the testbed development are explained.

Conclusions are given and the implications for future systems are considered.
