Beautifully illustrated, this imaginative resource is based on Rosemary Sutcliffe's classic children's novel which retells the story of Beowulf.

Each chapter in the novel is skilfully used as a focus for a grammatical theme, including sentences, verbs and speech marks.

These themes are then reinforced and brought to life in fun and creative activities, including: making models of a longboat and a Viking helmet; performing and story telling (including 12 character masks); memory and board games; and, writing in runes and solving Celtic riddles.

The activities are differentiated to give children of all abilities an exciting introduction to the study of English literature.
