It combines the biographies of all those, living and deceased, who have appeared in "Who's Who" since the first edition in 1897.

For those who have died, the entry given is the last to be printed, but with final additions such as posthumous publications and the date of death.

It includes people from all walks of life - the arts and sciences, business and finance, the church, civil service, education, entertainment, the law, medicine and politics - to reveal a picture of changing social patterns and values among those prominent in public life.
