It is a satire by Gothic novel by Jane Austen. It was completed in 1803 but was published posthumously in in 1817 with persuasions the story concern Catherine Morland the native young protagonist and a journey to a better understanding of herself and of the world around her Catherine Morland is 17 year old, living in Clergyman.

Some of the characters of this novel are Catherine Morland, James Morland, Henry Tilney, John Thorpe et cetera.

Northanger Abbey is fundamentally a parody of Gothic fiction which was especially popular during the 1790s and at the turn of the nineteenth century.

The satirical Northanger Abbey pokes fun at the gothic novel while earnestly emphasizing caution to the female sex.
