Strange Fruit

In a big city, thirty black gangsters and drug dealers are murdered over a two year period.

All have been executed with bullets to the head. The police, with the connivance of the media, keep this fact secret.

Nobody seems to mind so long as gangsters kill their own kind.

But when two black men with no connection to gangsterism are found hanged, and their bodies mutilated, all hell is about to break loose.

That is when Superintendent Silcock asks Lew Grant to find out what is happening.

Soon, the tough private detective, debt enforcer and general purpose hard man finds himself in a dangerous underworld of drugs and prostitution where violence and racism are endemic.

Lew Grant's life is in grave danger and he cannot turn to the forces of law and order to rescue him.
