Modern Foreign Languages : Key Stage 3 - A Report by H.M.Inspectorate - First Year, 1992-93

The quality of the teaching and learning of modern foreign languages and the standards of achievement improved slightly in Year 7 in comparison with 1991-92.

The report suggests a number of issues which schools need to consider in order to consolidate the generally successful year.

These include giving more attention to "reading, understanding and responding to the written language" (AT3) and placing more emphasis on classroom activities which enable pupils to work independently and in co-operation with others, and to use computers and tape-recorders.
