This is the fourth and final book in the series about Kit Stixby and his friend, Prince Henry, which began with "A Handful of Magic" and continued with "A land Without Magic", and "A Wild Kind of Magic".

Kit and Prince Henry set off to South America to meet up with Dr Stixby, who is on board the Oceanic Kew on a plant collecting assignment.

But when they arrive, the doctor has disappeared and it's up to Kit and Prince Henry to find out what's happened.

Could their old adversary, Stafford Sparks, have a hand in the strange goings-on?
