Globally threatened birds in Europe : action plans

See all formats and editions

Of some 10,000 bird species in the world, 514 are to be found in Europe.

Of these, 26 European species are globally threatened and risk extinction if their populations are not actively built up.

The series of action plans for Europe's most threatened species is the result of a joint project carried out BirdLife International, in collaboration with Wetlands International involving over 370 experts in almost every European country.

The action plans are a starting plan for conservation activities; they are meant to form the basis for decisions at international level and provide a framework for more detailed conservation planning at national level.
