Thought all teenage action heroes were male? Think again. Venus stepped out onto the roof. The wind bit viscously into her cheeks. Shouts echoed below her in the stairwell and boots clattered frantically up the stone steps.

The shouting grew louder and the steel door behind her slammed open. 'Stop!' yelled a harsh voice. Venus started to run across the tarmac, feet pounded in pursuit, gaining on her every second.

She felt a hand suddenly grab her shirt collar. She swung out with her right fist and freed herself from its grip.

As she hurtled forward, the tiny specks of car headlights on the street flickered into view - seventy floors below. 'Get her!' screamed the voice. But Venus's right foot was already pushing off from the illes of the very edge of the roof.

She leapt forward and propelled herself through the icy night air.
