A central strand of the NCVQ's approach to the new Vocational Qualifications is that those assessing competence should themselves have achieved an NVQ in competence assessment.

Thus the basic unit needed by all assessors in all subjects is TDLB 32 "Assessing Candidate Performance".

This second unit complements D32, extending the assessors's competence to include the evaluation of simulated work situations and other secondary forms of evidence.

Within the next year all staff assessing NVQ/GNVQ competence (and the equivalent in Scotland) will be required to have achieved unit D33 as well as D32. This study aid is intended for NVQ/GNVQ tutors, but unlike D32 the unit is not offered to trainees as part of a full NVQ scheme.

The pack aids study by providing explanatory notes, checklists and about 25 detachable forms which can be completed and included in the trainee's portfolio of evidence.

Used alongside the guidelines provided by the awarding body, the pack offers centres a professional and cost-effective alternative to photocopied class handouts.

If ten or more copies are ordered, the cost is #6.50 per copy.
