Volume 1 profiles Dorothy Brooten, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor and Chair of the Health Care of Women and Childbearing Division in the School of Nursing and Director of the Graduate Programmes in Perinatal Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Brooten is also Director of the Centre for Low-Birthweight Research at the university and is a renowned authority on low-birthweight infants and their families.

Her current work involves identifying families at risk and analyzing the benefitsof sending clinical nurse specialists into the homes of women delivering low-birthweight infants.
