See all formats and editions

This text is a user-friendly introduction to TEX, the powerful typesetting system designed by Don Knuth.

It is addressed primarily to beginners, but it contains much information that will be useful to aspiring TEX "wizards." The book is structured in such as way as to allow for the diversity of backgrounds that characterizes TEX users: authors in the sciences and in the humanities, secretaries and technical typists.

It contains a careful explanation of all the fundamental concepts and commands, and also offers a wealth of annotated examples and "tricks of the trade" based on the authors' extensive experience with TEX.

The last third of the book is devoted to a dictionary/index, summarizing and referencing the material in the text and going into greater depth in some areas.

This reference book on computer applications, software and text processing is intended for TEX novices, typesetters and students in mathematics, computer science and physics.
