This publication examines the effect of oil spills at sea on seafood safety and sets out a model for a stepwise risk analysis procedure for risk monitoring and management of contamination (focusing on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons or PAH components in the oil and on seafood safety) from an imaginary oil spill at a location in the sea between Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

The report also summarises recommendations for national and international emergency response and surveillance systems and for the future research needs in this topic.
