International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health : ICF (Revised ed)

See all formats and editions

This publication describes how people live with their health condition.

It is a classification of health-related domains that describe body functions and structures, activities and participation.

The domains are classified from body, individual and societal perspectives.

Since an individual's functioning and disability occurs in a context, "ICF" also includes a list of environmental factors.

This CD-ROM includes the full text of the "ICF" in six official WHO languages and also offers: the ability to browse the classification in its tree structure; the display of two languages at one time; an advanced search function; cross-references via hyperlinks; the ability to select and work on subsets of the classification; an Internet-based upgrading facility which allows incorporating future modifications in the classification and additional language versions; and the opportunity to send comments and feedback to the WHO.

The "ICF" should be useful to understand and measure health outcomes.

It can be used in clinical settings, health services or surveys at the individual or population level. It is intended to complement "ICD-10 - The International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems" and therefore is looking beyond mortality and disease.
