Aviation Psychology in Practice

This work seeks to extend the boundaries of aviation psychology in two ways: by broadening the focus beyond the flight deck to the whole aviation system; and by discussing relevant theoretical developments.

This book addresses: the relationship between what goes on in the flight deck and the wider organizational context; critical safety issues associated with human factors in aircraft maintenance and grounding; learning from aviation accidents and the need to be supported by more systematic human factors investigation and research; human factors of accident survival as well as accident prevention; theories of crew coordination and decision-making and the stresses of the real world; and thorough training.
