I'm Telling You!

The Cambridge Young Writers Award was launched in January 1999, as part of the National Year of Reading.

I'm Telling You! is a collection of the 25 winning autobiographical stories, all written by children.

The foreword to the book is by The Right Honourable Mr David Blunkett, MP I'm Telling you! is a compilation of stories with a diverse range of writing styles and a wide variety of topics, from poignant tales to fun tales of childhood.

Some stories cover topics familiar to many children (such as family holidays, sports day, learning to swim), while others are stories straight from the heart,(including a child's account of being held by terrorists in Afghanistan).

I'm Telling You! is published as a collection within the Extended Reading phase of Cambridge Reading and is particularly aimed at children in Years 5 and 6.

Cambridge Reading is a major reading scheme which provides stimulating books and support materials for the teaching of reading and the development of literacy throughout the primary years.
