Myths and Legends

Part of the Teacher Timesavers S. series
See all formats and editions

A collection of stories, both myths (pure fiction) and legends (stories based on events that have an element of truth in their foundation).

These aim to help children to develop an awareness of the past.

Suggested activities, based on the history curriculum, are intended to help to develop a range of skills, such as differentiating between fact and fiction, understanding cause and consequence and appreciating points of view.

The stories are organised according to the following sections: special days; special people; special times; special places and how it all began (creation stories).

Consideration is given to religious beliefs, in order to help children understand that what some people term a story, others will regard as factual.

By the author of "Ghosts and Bogles". Co-author for "Collins History Scheme".
