This textbook is the final volume of a five-volume series on human geography.

It draws attention to the process of political fragmentation within and between states taht is happening alongside the emergence of supranational institutions, transnational movements, and the growth of superstates, with a mixture of text and readings.

It explores the kind of global politics we are witnessing through a number of issues such as the alleged emergence of a new world order, the impact of Islam as a global force, the rise of regions in an interdependent world, and the notion of the break-up of the nation state.
