This work shows that Joyce's typological derivations from the Bible are purposefully driven by an interplay of reciprocal inspiration, the original type from the Bible deriving an occasion of novel origination, meaning-wise, in the derivative construct of the Joycean type.

It appears that Joyce intended to construct, with 'Finnegans Wake' especially, a subversive coda to the biblical canon.

The study illustrates the plausibility of this hypothesis in the case study of the retellings in 'Finnegans Wake' of the story of Ham's filial rebellion against his father, Noah.
