F. Scott Fitzgerald died before he could finish this novel, better known as "The Last Tycoon".

Its central character, the great film producer Monroe Stahr, is based on Irving Thalberg and, like Fitzgerald, is a desperately sick man, disenchanted with life, but striving still to work.
