This unique resource is designed to enable practitioners to help parents keep their young people safe.

It focuses on 'monitoring and supervision' in families and addresses key issues raised in the government's recent Staying Safe consultation and Action Plan.

Based on Young People in Focus research with young people and parents, the toolkit covers: - how parents know about their young person's activities and whereabouts the role of communication and parenting styles - monitoring areas such as social life and friendships; education; media (internet, video games etc); smoking, drugs, sex and alcohol - the significance of wider support networks
