This modern course for integrating language and literature, is designed especially for students in Ugandan secondary schools.

Developed in conjunction with the National Curriculum Development Centre, the course draws on current developments from the field of teaching English as a second language.

It integrates the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, teaches grammar in context, and involves the student in a variety of interactive work.

The 11 units of Book 4 offer students opportunities to explore written and spoken passages and texts for speaking aloud.

The texts are thematically integrated, as is the language work on structure, sounds and vocabulary.

Book 4 focuses on writing to a greater extent then the previous levels, in response to the students' need to take an examination at the end of the year.

The teacher's text provides the answers to exercises and suggestions on how activities might be handled.

Some optional extra activities are also included.
