The Ecology of Survival : Case Studies from North-east African History

The contribitors to this volume argue that any solutions to Africa's ecological problems must be based on a broad understanding of the historical patterns of ecological change and the interactions between human societies and the environment.

Using case studies, they explore the anthropological and historical aspects of ecological problems in Northeast Africa and suggest ways in which policy-makers might take account of this approach.
