The primary English encyclopaedia : the heart of the curriculum

A reference book explaining key concepts, ideas and current requirements in the area of primary English.

It aims to be comprehensive and user friendly. While the author has the needs of UK primary teachers and student teachers very much in mind, the intended audience stretches to anyone anywhere concerned about children's progress in English up to 11 years.

The encyclopaedia includes many short definitions - parts of speech for example - and succint explanations of current UK requirements.

However, the author bears in mind the bigger purposes: how we can help children become confident speakers, thoughtful listeners, sensitive readers and successful writers.
