An assessment of services for minority ethnic young people leaving care.

Based on a study of six local authorities in England, this report documents the experiences of black and white care leavers receiving post-care services.

It is the first major study of minority ethnic care leavers and examines their perceptions, needs and concerns in comparison with their white counterparts in a range of areas including social services, education, health, housing and juvenile justice.

Drawing on a study of 261 young people, the report highlights factors around access, use and outcome of service provision and policy, and identifies areas for further development.

In particular, the author calls for a holistic framework for policy makers and practitioners to serve all sections of the community.
