The Impact of the English Reformation, 1500-1640

This reader examines the effects of the Reformation on English society and asks such question as: how widespead was the appeal of Protestantism in England?; how did local communities react to the swings of official policy?; and how much continuity remained with the Catholic past?

The contributions in the book identify, and in different and sometimes contradictory ways, attempt to resolve these and other questions.
