Activities for Teaching Persuasive Writing for Ages 7-9

A series of books of ready-made photocopiable activities plus teacher guidance that help teachers to do shared and guided writing within a particular text type.

Each book covers one specific writing type and aims to improve teacher confidence and knowledge and provide them with the teaching resources they need.

Each book has 4 sections: 1. Using Good Examples. Two extracts to explore in shared writing activities to enable children (and teachers) to develop knowledge and understanding of the text type. 2. Developing Writing. Activities for exploring, practising and planning elements of the text type. 3. Writing. Projects to help children to put their writing ideas and planning together into written work. 4. Review. Ideas and photocopiables to get children to redraft, assess and improve their own writing.

The activities in Persuasive Writing (7-9) enable children to: * write advertisements, articles, letters, fliers and leaflets * structure an argument * identify fact and opinion * justify a point of view * manipulate their reader
