This is a "survival guide" for teenagers, providing health, sex and travel information for young people aged 15-20 who are leaving home for the first time, travelling and then going on to higher education or a job.

Part narrative, part factual, it is written in a light-hearted tone, combining medical facts with fiction and setting the action within teenagers' everyday lives.

The narrative tells the story of a teenager taking a year off after school, and travelling round the world, starting his trip by flying Virgin Airways to New York.

The topics covered range from health, sex, contraception, drugs, AIDS, alcohol and smoking, to travel tips, visas, money, insurance and vaccinations.
