This report is a guide to UK suppliers of uninterruptible power supplies and power conditioners, and other power quality products.

It has been expanded to include sections on manufacturers of surge suppressors and batteries.

A discussion of potential power problems is followed by a brief review of the main features of power conditioners, surge suppressors and the various types of UPS.

The chapter on suppliers consists of a name and address listing of over 250 identified manufacturers, importers and distributors of the products included in the guide, and more detailed information provided by over 100 of these companies - mainly leading manufacturers and importers, together with a few distributors.

The standard two-page format accommodates an informative company profile, contact names and a product summary in chart form to give a quick reference to each company's involvement in the sector by product and power range.

The final chapter of the report presents model details of over 1000 power conditioners and UPS products currently available in the UK. Model details for power conditioners and static UPS are presented in a tabular format for ease of comparison, using key parameters selected as appropriate for each section - e.g. rating, dimensions, weight, colour, price, crest factor, autonomy time, recharge time, efficiency, noise attenuation, audible noise.

Entries are organized by rating, with separate tables for single- and three-phase inputs and outputs.

Details for rotary products are given in brief technical descriptions provided by the suppliers.

This report updates and replaces 93-0083 "Buyer's Guide to UPS and Power Quality Products".
