This is a collection of work by photographer Ian Berry which reflects his concern with everyday life and the human condition, and segregation in South Africa.

Berry has continued visiting and working in each of the different communities throughout the political and social conflict created by apartheid.

This book also contains three essays which provide a chronology of his time spent in the country.

He has been the recipient of many awards, among them the Arts Council's first major photographic bursary in 1974 and Nikon's Photographer of the Year Award in 1977.

He has had a number of one-man exhibitions and taken part in a broad range of shows.
