See all formats and editions

Presenting the findings of the first ever nationwide survey of blind and partially sighted children in Britain, this survey took the form of detailed interviews with the parents of 285 visually impaired children aged three to 19 years.

Volume 1 of the survey which dealt with adults was published in 1991.

The findings provide an insight into the lives of families with a visually impaired child and the struggle they have to obtain information and advice about their child's condition.

One of the findings to emerge is that more than half of these children have one or more additional disabilities such as impaired hearing or speech, physical handicaps or learning difficulties.
