The cook's atelier: recipes, techniques, and stories from our French cooking school

'The Cook's Atelier' is part cookbook, part cooking school, and part storybook of a family's life in France.

Mother and daughter American expats, Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini, followed their dream of living in France and founded The Cook's Atelier in 2008, a cooking school and wine shop in Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy.

The Cook's Atelier offers hands-on market tours and cooking classes, seasonal suppers, and workshops throughout the year, with the goal of educating local and international visitors about seasonal ingredients, classic French cooking techniques, and Burgundy wine.

Their book features more than 100 of their favourite recipes, organized into seasonal menus and by course.

Recipes lighten up the classic, rustic cuisine of Burgundy and are accented by tips on presenting meals in a relaxed, beautiful way.
