This is one of the most famous tales on Chinese Lantern Festivals.

Sky lanterns, sometimes called Kong-Ming Lanterns, were first made by Kong-Ming to send a message for help so they are also known as Lights of Safety.

Later they were used to ask for a blessing and for making wishes at the Lantern Festivals, so they are called Lights of Blessing too.

Chinese people believe that they can get a link to the gods by flying a sky lantern and not only get a blessing, but maybe have their wish come true.
