Mitchell's Wings : The story of the machine that Inspired a nation

Using the testimonies of people who witnessed and were inspired by this iconic machine, Johnny Carrington has dramatised the story of Spitfire designer R.J Mitchell and his wife Flo, as told through the eyes of their son, Gordon.

But the Spitfire was more than just a machine, it inspired a nation... across all walks of life. To illustrate this ubiquitous appeal, Johnny interviewed a range of people whose lives were touched by this iconic plane; including a lady who witnessed one of the first flights, Battle of Britain aces and a woman whose best friend was killed in the bombings of the Supermarine factory.
