In Charles Dickens' short story, "The Trial for Murder" a banker is summoned to serve on a jury in a murder trial.

The banker soon realizes he can see the ghost of the murdered man sitting, standing and otherwise present throughout the court proceedings.

Perhaps Dickens' best-known ghost story after "A Christmas Carol", it was originally published in the 1865 Christmas issue of "All the Year Round".
