Psychiatry in general practice (New ed)

Changes in mental health services and treatments mean that general practitioners now have the foremost role in the early diagnosis and long-term management of mental disorder. Psychiatry in General Practice is designed to meet the needs of the general pracitioner - faced with a vast array of psychological distress and illness but without lengthy psychiatric training and the time resources used by psychiatrists.

Section One: Principles; looks at the symptoms and signs of mental disorder and how the current services operate to provide community care. Sections Two: The Life Cycle and the Family Three Specific Health Disorders in Adult Psychiatry and Four Treatment initiatives look at the problems faced by individuals and their families throughout their life cycles together with a consideration of specific mental disorders such as schizophrenia and with up-to-date management strategies.
