Young Marianne is one of the lucky ones. She has escaped out of Nazi Germany on the first Kindertransport train carrying Jewish children to safety in Britain.

In this strange land where she does not understand the culture or the language, Marianne finds that life as a refugee is hard and puzzling.

She also misses her mother terribly and is afraid for her father, still hiding in Berlin.
