Galanin : Basic Research and Therapeutic Indications - Papers Presented at a Conference Held by the Wenner Gren Foundations on May 3-5, 1998 in Stockholm, Sweden

This volume takes as its subject new research on galanin, a major peptide localized in several brain regions, which has assumed increasing importance in view of its possible involvement in a number of nervous system processes including obesity, Alzheimer's disease and pain.

It also discusses the first galanin receptor antagonists and agonists, which have recently been discovered, and describes how these compounds provide research tools to determine the role of endogenous galanin in physiological and behavioural functions.
