This contemporary story, set in the fictional town of Aidemby, England, is centred around the plight of a single mother of three teenage children, Annie Slade, who, having previously been such a 'happy-go-lucky' person, has recently become the subject of her family's concerns, due to her having uncharacteristically fallen victim to the debilitating effects of depression.

The root cause of Annie's problems are unknown, until it duly emerges, that she is in fact, being subjected to far too much pessimistic news in the media.

The constant drip-feed of pessimism on TV, radio and in the newspapers, 24/7, is mentally dragging her down.

Having subsequently realised this fact, Annie's kids and their close friends, democratically arrive at a decision to embark upon: Operation Annie - a daring mission of mercy, aimed at finding a remedy for Annie's dire situation.

Planning, surveillance, camaraderie teenage guile and nerves of steel, prove to be essential ingredients for this socially-conscious team, as they take on the might of the local media. Incidentally, accidentally - and, maybe even, analogically, the story unfolds throughout the Christmas period - and concludes rather neatly on New Year's Day!
