The Government Response to the Health Select Committee's Report on Obesity : Cm. 6438

This Command Paper sets out the Government's reply to the Health Committee's 3rd report of session 2003-04 (HCP 23-1, ISBN 0215017374) on the issues surrounding the growing public health problem of obesity.

The document contains responses to 52 recommendations made by the Committee, including issues relating to food standards, nutritional data and calorie intake levels; links to trends in alcohol consumption; the role of Government, the NHS and other agencies to tackle health inequalities; health promotion campaigns to encourage physical activity and healthy eating, especially amongst children; food advertising to children; food pricing strategies of supermarkets; voluntary regulation of the food industry; and sustainable transport policies.
